New pieces.

I will be working on three large canvas 122cm x 61cm x 5cm. I am going to attempt a triptick. Or at least a two piece. I have done a large 4 piece linked together with stained glass. (will upload shortly), but this is my first time trying narrow tall pieces. Right now I am in the process of looking at the blank canvas. I will post the first image when I'm done looking and thinking.

This one reminds me of the music of art. Sorry about the resolution and the shine. I am not a photographer and I am trying to figure out my digital camera and what resolution works best for this site.

I have used copper paint and oils. This is the first two layers of one of my paintings. I tend to use a limited palette and then apply one color at a time to achieve a sense of balance. I try to meditate and let my brush go where it will without any preconceived notions about the outcome. After I take a step back then I try to see how the piece makes me feel to come up with a name. Sometimes they don't get named until completion, but this one spoke to me right away.

This piece is called "Tympanic" because it reminds me of the music of painting. (Sorry about the shine, I'm working on it.) I used copper paint and oils on a 24"(w) 48"(h) x 2"(d) canvas. I'm thinking purple as a next layer? It will be for a show in June at Cedar Rapids at the Paul Engle Center for Arts.

This is stage two of "Tympanic". I added the purples because to me purple seemed to compliment the copper and beige color. I'm pondering the next phase while this one dries, but I have others that I have been working on including a new one I just uploaded to my portfolio. I hope you like them both.

peace
Abby

This is the finished piece... I know I didn't show all the layers, but I was painting three different pieces at once, so it was usually just a touch here and there whenever I found the time. I would welcome some comments regarding the finished product vs. the initials.
