Lina I just came across this painting of yours. It strikes me that this series is a big advance in your body of work - more focused and exciting than previous examples you've posted here, and manages to engage the viewer on many levels of interpretation. I think you've made some sort of breakthrough into a freer and yet more intimate mode with your work. Please do take the time to write your reaction to my impression on the direction you're taking with these paintings. I'd love to read a more in-depth personal account that goes beyond the simple description "Divers" series, e.g. why divers? Anyway - well done. In my opinion, this work is very good. Nice and big and bold. Keep marching on that road you're taking - it'll lead to important statements. And best of luck with that journey.
Dear JP, Long time no hear! How are you? Thank you for your kind comments. Why divers?.. To make a long story short; in my childhood in Ukraine I was about to drown and rescued by chance. Since then I don't swim and suffer of aquaphobia. My new works are sort of self therapy and a fantasy to get rid of my fear and liberate myself by diving.
That's a very strong series of work Lina. What's your source material? Are you working from photos? Nice big and bold paintings. Have they been helping you get back in the water?
