Oh, these are the Jacobsen chairs. I know them like sisters and brothers for I had the great pleasure to work in Arne Jacobsen’s office in in Kopenhagen in the late sixties. My that was a very good time and we all loved him a lot. He was such a nice person and one of the best architects I’ve ever met. And after we’d celebrated the winning of another competition he went home to see a friend and never came back. So the next morning I will never forget when we got the news that he was dead. Okay, that’s one thing. The other thing is that I never quite understand how one can do such exact lines with oil paint. For me it seems to be a contradiction in itself. But you are perfect in it. Congratulation! Assembling chairs has a special magic for me and I used to do it as a young sculptor (that was before becoming an architect). I did small chairs of all kind in bronce or wood, just 15 cm high and put them together in a group. Looking at these gathered chairs immediately evoked the fantasy of all kind of peoples I imagined sitting on them. So whole stories emerged from that. And something like that happens now when I look at your work.
